🤖 Today, I fired the robot!

Hi Reader,

A confession: A few months ago, I built a robot.

Okay, a Custom GPT. The idea was simple — upload your headshots, résumé, reel, and casting profiles, answer some questions, and get feedback on the story your materials are telling the industry. And it was pretty good!

Three problems.

One: it lived inside ChatGPT — which, between all the energy and water those data centers gulp down, is not exactly the planet's best friend. 🌎 🌳 🍃🐻‍❄️

Two: unless you had a paid account, ChatGPT would cut you off mid-conversation when you ran out of free credits — usually right as we were getting to the good part. 😵

Three — and this is the one that really got me — everything you submitted went into ChatGPT and stayed there. I couldn't see your materials. I couldn't see your questions, what you were struggling with, or what you actually needed. The tool was giving feedback, but I was locked out of the conversation. 🔏

And here's the thing: looking at an actor's materials and spotting the opportunity they can't yet see for themselves is one of my favorite things to do on this earth.

Because sometimes an actor is one strategically produced demo reel away from demonstrating (see what I did there?) that they're right for the jobs they're already capable of doing.

Why on earth was I outsourcing that to a robot?

So I rebuilt the whole thing — no ChatGPT account required, no robot middleman. The robot's out. I'm in. 🙋🏼‍♀️

It's called the Casting DNA™ PreCheck.

You answer a series of questions and share your materials — headshots, résumé, demo footage or voice demos, casting profiles, whatever represents you out there. Then I personally go through everything and send you a custom report on what your materials are transmitting to the industry, and more importantly, what they're not:

✓ What's already working
✓ What's missing or sending mixed signals
✓ Where your biggest opportunities are hiding
✓ What I'd focus on next, if I were you

One important distinction: The PreCheck isn't evaluating your talent. It's evaluating your materials. Casting can only respond to what they can actually see/hear — and most actors have no idea how much of what they do best is completely invisible in their current package. That gap is fixable. That's the whole point.

It's in beta, which means you — bc you've subscribed to my list, and are now one of my people — get it before anyone else does. (It also means if you hit a wonky question or a broken link, you'll tell me. That's what beta friends are for. 👯)

And it's free. I'd love to keep it that way. But because I personally review every single submission, this is about as high-touch as a free tool gets — and at some point, the math may force me to put a price on it. So if you've been wanting an outside eye on your materials, now would be an excellent time.

Since I'm reviewing every submission personally, reports go out in the order they come in.

Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing more of the thinking behind Casting DNA™ — including why "waiting for the next random job to hand you a demo clip" is a terrible marketing strategy, and what to do instead. For now, I just wanted to put this in your hands first.

I can't wait to see what you send me.

Cheering you on,
